OCAD University President provides the keynote address

for ALiVE in Hong Kong

Dr. Sara Diamond, OCAD University President, recently provided the keynote address to an international audience at City University of Hong Kong. Diamond’s presentation helped launch the Applied Laboratory for Interactive Visualization and Embodiment (ALiVE), an incubator for interdisciplinary research and innovation in creative media. Highly regarded for her thought leadership in the area of digital media, Diamond presented her remarks on the future of new media to an exclusive, invitation-only event. A first in Hong Kong, ALiVE’s aim is to nurture talent and vision for the development of Hong Kong’s creative industries. Situated at the Hong Kong Science Park, ALiVE is designed to leverage advances in cinema, gaming, and mobile, networked and participatory media. The initiative will research new modes of immersive interactive experience, modes that are relevant to culture, entertainment, education and industry. These emergent forms of creative media will provide new paradigms in embodied visualization, interactive narrative, participatory media and autonomous agency.
