Historic American Sheet Music: Search
This database, part of the Special Collections of Duke University, offers access to a wide range of secular and sacred music popular in the United States from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The collection is particularly strong in antebellum Southern music, Confederate imprints, and Civil war songs. The collection is searchable by a number of fields, including title, composer, first line, etc.
The Lester S. Levy Collection of Sheet Music
Part of the Special Collections at The Johns Hopkins University, this database contains over 29,000 pieces of music and focuses on popular American music from 1780 to 1960. Searches will retrieve images of the cover and each page of music if the music was published before 1923 and is in the public domain.
