COURSE CALENDARS

FACULTY OF ART

FofA_homeThe Faculty of Art offers students an experiential arts education that joins practice to theory and studio production to interdisciplinary inquiry. Our goal is to create an innovative and stimulating environment in which students can develop their own ideas and artworks as ethical and responsive participants in a culture of varying needs and opportunities.

The Faculty of Art curriculum champions a plurality of approaches and cross-cultural perspectives in art making. Students are exposed to a breadth of contextual knowledge and to the discipline-specific rigors of a studio art practice. The Faculty of Art supports innovative and critical pedagogy and is committed to faculty development in teaching, research and artistic production. Teaching methodologies emphasize problem solving, experimental production and research informed by critical thinking and contemporary awareness.

Studio and seminar courses engage students in a spirit of dialogue and debate that is augmented by critiques, visiting speakers, lectures and panel discussions.

It is the mission of the Faculty of Art to graduate students who will distinguish themselves as leading contemporary artists, curators, critics and educators.
